Rod Dewberry

I came to know Christ as a child, always being fascinated by the power and largeness of God but frighten by what would happen if I did not please Him.   Eventually, I would come to understanding that Christ is my righteousness and conformity to His likeness is a lifelong process.  As I grew up around the church, it was a constant adventure of trying separate to truth from tradition.   I desperately wanted to know God the way He appeared in the Scriptures, and that same passion would also give rise to an overwhelming frustration during my college years.  Why was every non-Christian group on campus more vigilant and more versed in the communication of their message than those of us claiming to know the real Jesus?

My desire to see Christ properly proclaimed would cause me to abandon the ambition of becoming an engineer and enrolling in Seminary.  Subsequently, I have served the local body of Christ as a Pastor of Evangelism (Covenant Community Church & Kadesh Baptist); and Head of Spiritual Growth and Development (Abundant Life Church).  Now, I look forward to the next chapter of service as the Pastor and planter of Fishers of Men Community Church.  The Lord however would not have me to do it alone. In 1998, He gave me a wife (Kerry) with an incredible love for Christ who was the perfect complement for someone committed to serving God with their whole life. Kerry and I now have two children Dorea (8) and Amman (5).

Will Richardson

Elder Will Richardson attended Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida studying Business Administration before serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He later studied Business Administration at Florida International University while working in banking. Will received training in home missions and outreach through David Wilkerson’s ministry – Teen Challenge.

When he moved to Atlanta, he accepted a staff position at New Life Ministries, a non-profit organization that assisted men and women in remaining free from any addictions.  He was the program manager and counselor for six years.  He later served at Abundant Life Church where he established “More Than Conquerors” ministry and support groups, a ministry focusing on couples and premarital counseling.  He is certified through “Preparing/Enriching” for premarital counseling and couples communication as well as “Couples Ministry” through Norman Wright Ministries.  In addition, Will has served as executive director of the Good Samaritan Training Center, a ministry that assists those whose lives have been negatively impacted by addictive behavior to regain control of their lives while promoting growth, healing and a spiritual foundation.

Currently, he serves as the Elder of Family Life at Fishers of Men Community Church.  Will and his beautiful wife Hazel have two children and three grandchildren.

Lonnie Edwards Jr.

Whether it’s church gatherings and concerts or coffee houses and street corners, Lonnie is passionate about proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.  He trusted in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord in 1996 while he was a student-athlete at the University of West Georgia.  With a strong desire to see people impacted and transformed by the message of the cross, Lonnie immediately began evangelizing on the campus.  By the end of his senior basketball season at the University of West Georgia, Lonnie had offers to play professional basketball. However, being instructed by God to put the basketball down, he turned down opportunities to play professional basketball to pursue God's will for his life.

In 1998, the Lord connected him with a team of believers in Jesus Christ and they formed Goodside, a Christian rap ministry based in the metro Atlanta area.  As a member of Goodside, Lonnie has ministered at hundreds of engagements throughout the southeast U.S.  Prior to FOMCC, Lonnie served at Abundant Life Church in Lithonia, GA on the Discipleship Ministry Team and also in the youth ministry.

God has given Lonnie an intense passion to see believers grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As a result, on any given day in metro Atlanta, you might find him at a local Starbucks or Panera Bread “choppin it up” (studying the Bible) with others.  Lonnie is married to his loving wife, Susan, and they have two beautiful daughters: Lanee’ and Lia.  They currently reside in Lithonia, GA.

Travis Walker

Travis Walker came to know the Lord after his senior year in high school in the summer of 2003 at a Wednesday night bible study at New Life Church in Thomaston, GA.  In the fall of 2003, he enrolled into Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and during his time there he began to grow in his walk with the Lord Jesus Christ.  In the same year, Travis got connected with Joshua Generation Campus Ministry and began serving his campus by holding weekly bible studies.  During these times, he began to discover his passion for the word of God and seeing people grow in their own walk with the Lord.  Travis and his wife, Triana, decided to join Fishers of Men Community Church (FOMCC) because the church is dedicated to teaching sound biblical truths (growth in the knowledge of the Lord so that we view Him properly), discipleship (“life on life” with one another whereby we grow in sanctification), and community (intimate fellowship with one another to be accountable, to encourage, and to strengthen one another in the Faith).

Bernard Hairston

I came to Christ in 1992 while in college at North Carolina A&T State University.  Two brothers who were apart of a college ministry were going door to door in the dorm witnessing. One Saturday morning, they knocked at my door and presented Christ to me and I accepted him.  I subsequently graduated college and stayed in the same city.  I joined the witnessing team in my church and would go out every weekend to different areas of the city and share Christ with others.  It was during that time that I met my wife. She was involved in the same outreach ministry.  As I grew older in Christ, I become somewhat frustrated with the way Christ was commonly presented at church and on popular TV ministries.  I felt as if there was so much more to Christ than what was being presented and was much more concerned with what was being taught than the delivery or who was speaking.  FOMCC presents Christ and nothing more.  The desire of the ministry is to present Christ as He truly is and His Word without personal agenda or bias.  The Word of God is truly enough by itself.
