The decision to leave a wayward lifestyle and follow Christ is more than a mental commitment to better manage my behavior; there is a corresponding discipline that Jesus describes in Luke 9:57-62. But this discipline is not a collection of rituals, it's a radical effort to follow Christ's example so our lives begin to look more like His. Characterized by sacrificial living; sanctified loyalties, and single-minded labor, Jesus’ powerfully practical example establishes the basis for our ultimate conformity to His image. The space between our conversion and ultimate conformity to the image of Christ is where we continually exchange our way of living for His; this exchange is the cost of discipleship.

Sacrificial living v.57-58 electing a lifestyle of self-denial and becoming a living sacrifice.

Sanctified loyalty v.59-60 choosing carefully the people we call counsel, and the priorities which make up the agenda of life.

Single-minded labor v.61-62 making all other ambitions concentric to the reason God created you.
